Thank you.

Today, I was chatting to Uncle Rocket-Scientist on GTalk and we were having one of those five minute catch ups - the ones we seem to have too regularly now. Real life has a sucky way of getting in the way of wasting time chatting about nothing. Especially when you factor in time differences and work shifts and kindy runs and the need to have an actual life.

It made me think (I bet you missed me saying that...) It made me think about the importance of connections, the importance of being able to have those five minutes amongst all the others.

I was reminded about how lucky I am to have such amazing friends - now scattered over seven countries. I have a universal family. I have "soul-sisters" in three countries. "Brother-from-another-mother" in two. I know some of the most amazing people in the world and I keep meeting more amazing people. I am truly blessed to be able to know these people and I hope they know it. Even if our five minutes are weeks apart or only over text or FB or telepathy.

Not a day goes by when I don't think of them. My global family. Thicker than blood.

And those here in NZ - you make it worthwhile, those days when I feel like I couldn't be further from family, those days when I doubt everything and those days that just aren't worth the tears... You're there. With smiles. With a shoulder. Even those of you who don't know you've made it onto my "list" you're there too.

You are there. In real life. On Twitter. On FB. On this page.

Thank you.

Ps: Uncle R-S - you make me go all soppy! I blame you entirely xx

  1. I'm considering myself a "global Sister" and therefore made it onto the list! YUSS!

  2. Great post to remind us that we think of others more often than people realize

  3. This is an awesome post. Makes me think about all the times I don't catch up with people because life gets in the way. May need to go find a few spare sets of 5 minutes.
