Poem: In the Rain...

A friend shared a poem with me over the weekend and it was really good - I haven't been given permission to share it but it sparked some thoughts and led to my writing a poem, inspired by the images he'd created in my imagination.


In the rain...

Pulled close into your arms,

I feel your strength, 

warm through your shirt,
against my rain-wet cheek

you are strong in your weakness,

stronger for sharing it with me

holding me close to your heart 

as if to protect me from it,

yet sharing, the pain

feeling it wash off us

into the water at our feet

as we stand together -
pretending to be caught in the rain.
