My Mom Version 2.0

Credit
This morning I woke up to a text/sms from my mom, saying

"I went paragliding!"

It made me realise a few things.
  1. My mom is one ballsy chick.
  2. I underestimate her.
  3. I shouldn't.
  4. We are both trying to work out who we are before it is too late.
  5. I want us to succeed.
  6. I will encourage her as much as I can.
  7. I shouldn't encourage her too much, otherwise I end up agreeing to get a tattoo!

I don't know why I didn't know she was brave and ballsy. Nor why I didn't know that she was as lost as me when it came to defining herself.

I know she is selfless, kind, caring and hard working. I know she is a loving, strict mother who believes her children can achieve what they set their heads to. I know she worked hard to better our lives. I know she loves me and is proud of me. I know she loves coffee and chocolate. I know she looked after both her parents when they were ill and needed care. She did this without complaint. I know she would do it again.

I did not know that she wanted to paraglide, or loved going to the circus. I did not know she wanted to get a tattoo. Nor did I know that she would consider skydiving at the age of 50...

I do know, now, that I have got start seeing her not as my Mom but as an independent woman who is going to start living the life she wants/deserves and if getting a tattoo with her means that she is encouraged to continue finding herself, I say bring on the effing needle!
