Friday's Favourites - The Sisterhood Edition (Edited)

Source: flickr.com via Wendy on Pinterest

In case you've missed The Sisterhood's progress, it has been in three newspapers, in a magazine, on ZM, on many FB pages and blogs and even Close Up has been in touch!! The idea has gone global and there is interest in Australia, India and South Africa to start their own chapters.

This round of LoveBombing has gone out to fourteen women and one little girl, and I  can't be prouder of the 492 supporters on Facebook and the many more on email and blogs....

Today I would like to highlight the companies who have helped spoil and treat our ladies. For the companies that have Facebook pages, I used that link, if you are moved to thank them for joining in, pop on over and leave them a thank you!

So to

A huge, heartfelt thank you. Thank you for taking note of a cheeky email, random drop in or other small way of asking for help with this round of love bombs!

If I have missed any of the bigger companies, please let me know so that I can thank them. The smaller businesses will be highlighted over the weekend.

LoveBombing in the news.

Sisterhoodbutton.jpgBreaking my alias, just this once, to spread the word about The Sisterhood and the LoveBombs.I'm much happier behind the scenes, but sometimes it's worth putting yourself out there in order for others to benefit.
Just to clarify, I am not Welsh and Sophie's surname is not Slim... Although she will now answer to Mrs Slim.
Here is the list this round's nominees.

If you are interested in learning more about what we do, how you can do it or even how I managed to get interviewed, leave a comment and I'll get back to you.

My parcel is ready to go in the post tomorrow and I can't wait for detonation day!

Joining The Sisterhood

Sisterhoodbutton.jpg

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.  ~Leo Buscaglia

I have been involved with The Sisterhood's Love Bombs and am really proud of Sophie and all the wonderful women who have joined in.

For me, being part of The Sisterhood is like being part of a club. A club whose members have realised that by combining our efforts we can make more of a difference than waiting until we can afford to make a difference on our own. It means that we can nominate people that we know or know of who, that deserve a boost or a pat on the back.

I think that sadly, the kindness of strangers is, sometimes, the only kindness people easily recognise and accept without doubt and self-reproach. I love that I can make a little difference in someone's life without them ever having to "pay me back".  Seeing the photographs of what was sent gives me a warm fuzzy knowing that even if I can only send a little something, it all adds up.

Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves.  ~James Matthew Barrie
Last week when The Sisterhood hit the local news sites, I promoted it to our local paper. My exact train of though was -
"the more people who know, the more people will donate  and join in and then more people can get that special something in the mail."
And I naively thought that they would contact Sophie and talk to her as she's the founder of it. That I would be able to read about it in our local paper and know that more women were being given an opportunity to join in or be nominated by their community.

Unfortunately, Luckily, the paper wanted to interview me - for a local angle. It's not something I am comfortable with but I did it. And other than getting the poor reporter's name wrong I think it went well. It means that I have had to drop my alias which I am still working through but it means that more people will know and more women can join The Sisterhood.

Are you interested? Have a look at The Sisterhood on Facebook and join women from around New Zealand and the world who are trying to make a difference in someone's life.
